Neuro Intervention
Neuro intervention, also known as neurointerventional surgery or endovascular neurosurgery, is a medical specialty that focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord using minimally invasive techniques. It involves the use of catheters, wires, and other small instruments that are guided through the blood vessels to reach the affected area.
Neuro intervention procedures are performed by highly skilled neurointerventional surgeons who have specialized training in both neurology and radiology. They use advanced imaging techniques, such as angiography and fluoroscopy, to visualize the blood vessels and guide their interventions.
Cerebral Angiography
Cerebral angiography is a medical procedure used to visualize the blood vessels in the brain and diagnose various conditions affecting them. It involves the injection of a contrast dye into the blood vessels followed by X-ray imaging to capture detailed images of the cerebral arteries and veins.
There are different type treatment of various conditions :
- Cerebral aneurysms
- Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
- Cerebral vasculitis
- Stroke

Aneurysm Coiling
Aneurysm coiling is a procedure performed in interventional radiology to treat cerebral aneurysms. It is a minimally invasive technique used to prevent the rupture or further expansion of an aneurysm in the brain.
During aneurysm coiling, a catheter is inserted through a blood vessel, usually in the groin area, and navigated to the site of the aneurysm in the brain. Once the catheter reaches the aneurysm, small platinum coils or wires are placed within the aneurysm sac. These coils promote blood clotting and create a barrier to prevent further blood flow into the aneurysm, reducing the risk of rupture.
Some common types of aneurysm coiling:
- Simple Coiling
- Balloon-Assisted Coiling
- Stent-Assisted Coiling
- Balloon and Stent-Assisted Coiling
- Dual Microcatheter Coiling
Stroke Interventional
Stroke interventional is a neurointerventional procedure used to treat ischemic strokes, which occur when a blood clot blocks the flow of blood to the brain. This procedure involves inserting a catheter into the affected blood vessel and using specialized tools to remove or dissolve the clot. Stroke interventional is performed under local anesthesia and typically takes between 1-2 hours to complete.
Some common interventional techniques used in the treatment of stroke include:
- Mechanical Thrombectomy
- Intra-arterial Thrombolysis
- Balloon Angioplasty and Stenting
- Coiling and Embolization
