What is Interventional Oncology?
Interventional oncology uses imaging guidance to diagnose, treat and manage cancer. Three common procedures are transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), portal vein embolization (PVE) and tumour ablation.
Treatment options

TACE
Chemotherapy is delivered directly into a liver tumour through its artery, and the vessel feeding it is blocked.
Portal vein embolization
Before major liver surgery, part of the portal vein is blocked so the remaining liver grows larger.
Tumour ablation
Heat or cold (RFA, microwave, cryoablation) destroys cancer cells through a needle.
